A contingent of the Percept Research team attended the Executive MBA Council annual conference this year in Houston, Texas from October 20-23. The theme for the 2013 meeting, Igniting Innovation, is designed to spark the best-in-thinking for the EMBA industry and also reflects the creativity and business acumen of the host city. Attendees were encouraged to post their experience on Twitter with the #ignitinginnovation hash tag.
Percept Research collaborated with the council's Center for Research to provide three research-based presentations during the conference. The Center for Research directs the research initiatives of the council and is represented by Louise Kapustka (University of Washington), Karin Wiström (Stockholm School of Economics), George Bobinski (Binghamton University), Elmer Almachar (Northwestern University), and Brian Mahoney (Percept Research).
Meg deLuca (Duke University Senior Program Manager) stated, "The Toolkit and the Digging Deeper sessions provided invaluable information and served as a great way to kick off my first EMBA Council conference. Everyone involved in EMBA Programs can benefit from the data and analyses shared at the annual conference — it’s truly eye-opening."
George Bobsinski (Binghamton) and Chris L’Orange (Percept Research) finalizing the concurrent presentation.
Toolkit Session
Brian Mahoney (Percept Research Managing Partner) co-presented industry trends with Karin Wiström during the Executive MBA Toolkit, a one-day program held before conference sessions began. Toolkit attendees learned the must-knows of the Executive MBA industry, including admissions, marketing, budgeting, student expectations, and more.
Time to Talk Research Plenary Session
During the first plenary, data were presented from the council's annual Membership Program Survey (conducted by Percept Research). The Membership Program Survey benchmarks global trends in executive MBA programs with 96% of the membership participating in the survey this year.

Digging Deeper into Executive MBA Research Concurrent Session
The third presentation was delivered as a concurrent session titled “Digging Deeper into Executive MBA Research” with George Bobinski and Brian Mahoney. This session delved into admissions metrics, student expectations, reimbursement, and student ROI statistics captured in the Membership Program Survey and the Percept Research’s MBA Student Entry Survey and MBA Student Exit Survey.
During this session, Mr. Mahoney pointed attendees to a series of articles on Percept Research’s Innovation Blog designed to help MBA programs boost student and alumni survey response rates.
