Jerry Helisek and Brian Mahoney of the Percept Research team attended the Graduate Business Student Services Association (GBSSA) annual conference this year in Chapel Hill, NC from October 15-17. The theme for the 2014 meeting, Frugal Innovation, focused on the challenge of business school administrators being “frugal innovators” during a time when new investments in operating budgets responsible for managing the “student experience” are limited or existing operating budgets are being reduced.
The conference sessions covered topics such as “Pre-Matriculant Programming and Orientation”, “Team Based Learning and the Role of Student Services”, “Specialized MS Programs: How to Make 9 Months Count”, and “Beyond Scholarships: Programming for Fellows” among others. The conference attendees discussed creative and innovative strategies for maintaining quality programs and services with reduced resources.
