Thunderbird Commissions MBA Lifecycle Surveys to Improve MBA Student Satisfaction

Charlotte, NC, August 30, 2011—The Thunderbird School of Global Management based in Glendale, Arizona, recently commissioned Percept Research’s Student Midterm Survey and Student Exit Survey for their full-time MBA program to measure and improve MBA student satisfaction.

Brian Mahoney, Managing Partner of Percept Research stated, “This suite of surveys has been a collaborative approach with our business school clients. We are excited that a data-driven school such as Thunderbird selected these complementary MBA experience surveys to enhance their brand measurement.”

Dr. Kay Keck, Vice President Full-Time Programs at Thunderbird, shared how the MBA Midterm Student Survey will allow them to gather feedback, so they can improve the program for current students. “I’m a firm believer it’s better to get feedback when you can still make changes.”

While Thunderbird had been conducting their MBA Student Exit Survey with another firm, they wanted to identify ways to improve their program. “I felt like the Percept survey would give us much more information to guide our changes,” explains Dr. Keck.

The MBA Lifecycle Survey SuiteSM will allow Thunderbird to benchmark themselves against other schools, ask specific questions unique to their business school’s program and capture straightforward student feedback.

MBA students might be hesitant to honestly answer questions from their school, but when a third party conducts the survey they tend to be more open. This was another reason Dr. Keck chose Percept Research. “I think having a third party do it has advantages in terms of students being honest, straightforward and giving you better data because of it.”

After gathering Midterm feedback, Thunderbird plans to engage the Exit Survey to see if they were able to improve MBA student satisfaction. “So that we could see whether we had improved in some of those categories. Hopefully, by the time students left, they were happier than they would have been,” shares Dr. Keck.

The school’s long-term goal is to use both surveys to not only collect student feedback, but to constantly improve their MBA program.
