Written by Brian Mahoney | Wednesday, Jun 17, 2015

On the heels of February’s Executive MBA Council’s Southeast Regional Conference, Gretchen Grabowski and Brian Mahoney of Percept Research attended the EMBAC Northeast Regional meeting from March 3-4, 2015. Gretchen and Brian were among more than 70 attendees at the conference, which was hosted by the New York University’s (NYU) Stern School of Business

Following a conference welcome from NYU Stern’s Heather Daly, Brian Mahoney (Percept Research Managing Partner) presented data-driven EMBA market insights in the northeast region. The insights were derived from data collected from the firm’s MBA Lifecycle Survey Suite and the annual Executive MBA Council Membership Program Survey.

Other highlights of the two-day conference include a discussion of the strategic landscape of the MBA, a session led by Sonia Marciano (NYU Clinical Full Professor of Management and Organizations), and a review of the future of higher education. This presentation was led by NYU Stern administration, Joan Hvala (Associate Dean of Marketing and External Relations).

NYU professors Stephen Mellas and James Donofrio also led an interactive training session entitled, “It Starts with Hello: Communication Skills Training.” During this session, conference attendees learned the do’s and don’ts of public presentation by watching their peers who were “brave enough” to volunteer provide improv presentations on business topics such as managing time. Attendees also learned the practical application public interaction and presentation skills shown in non-traditional mediums such as the Disney Pixar film Finding Nemo.

In addition to the learnings shared during seminars, attendees of the 2015 Northeast Regional Meeting had the opportunity to network during a reception and dinner at New York City’s W Hotel, Union Square on the first night of the conference.

After-dinner sweets were a highlight of the conference event at the W Hotel.
